DENMARK - Denmark-Olar Elementary School held its annual Christmas program on Dec. 14 in the school’s gymnasium. All of the students at the school participated, and  Katlyn Cramer presided. Jaleigha Patterson welcomed everyone, and Mileaha Johnson led the pledge of allegiance.

Under the direction of the music teacher, Bernadette L. Montes, the students performed a variety of Christmas classics. The D-O Elementary dance troupe also performed a Christmas Native American dance.

The pre-kindergarten students took first place in a friendly Christmas competition with their rendition of “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree." The kindergarten class came in second. They performed the “Santa Claus Poem." Third place went to the fifth graders who performed a “Winter Fantasy” dance routine.

Montes was assisted by Yolanda Sumpter.

“It was good to see the parents support the children,” Bamberg School District 2 Trustee Beverly Bonaparte said.

Assistant Principal Lindsey Toomer recognized the parents who served as judges for the program and thanked guests and parents.

Principal Dr. Lorraine Peeples praised the successful program and thanked the parents and the Mary Jane Dancers for their participation.

The highlight of the program was when Santa arrived to greet the students and take pictures with them.
