• A 49-year-old Santee man contacted law enforcement at 7:35 p.m. Aug. 1 to report two vehicles parked at his residence had been damaged.

An estimated $1,000 in damages was done to the man’s 2012 Kia Optima and a 2009 Nissan Sentra between 10 p.m. July 31 and 6 a.m. Aug. 1, the report said.

According to the complainant, he had hired several contractors for various projects at his residence. He said he subsequently had a disagreement with a communications contractor concerning keeping his carpets clean while performing work at his home.

The complainant believes the contractor deliberately damaged the two vehicles, the report indicated.

The front passenger’s door was damaged on the complainant’s vehicle, and the other vehicles driver’s door sustained damage.

The complainant is in the process of locating the contractor’s information to provide to law enforcement.

• Santee officers assisted the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office just outside of the town limits on the old Highway 301 bridge in reference to people jumping off the bridge at 4:45 p.m. July 27.

When the officers arrived at the bridge, however, they did not see anyone jumping off the bridge.
