Highlights

• Coached three running backs who were named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team and had a back break the single-season and single-game school records for touchdowns at The Citadel

• Played running back at The Citadel from 1990-93, collecting All-Southern Conference honors in all four years and All-America hardware as a junior

• Never lost a yard on a carry during his four years playing at The Citadel

PLAYING EXPERIENCE: College - Earned four letters as a running back at The Citadel from 1990-93, collecting All-Southern Conference honors in all four years. He ranks second all-time in school history with 3,926 yards and with 204 points on 34 touchdowns. As a junior in 1992 he led The Citadel to a conference title and number one final ranking with 1,449 yards and 12 scores en route to earning All-America honors. He also served as a team captain in 1993, and was inducted into The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

EDUCATION: Earned a B.S. in computer science from The Citadel in 1993.

PERSONAL DATA: Born 7/28/71 in Conway, S.C. Married to the former Yvette Newton of Hartwell, Ga. the couple has two sons, Everette III "Tre" (10) and Josiah (3), and one daughter, Sierra (7).

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: As a coach - During his second stint at The Citadel, Sands coach three Bulldog running backs who were named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team and had one back break the school's single-season and single-game records for touchdowns. He also served as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs from 1999-2000, and coached offensive backs at Ohio from 2001-04. From 1996-98 he coached the running backs at Elon.
