South Carolina native Congressman James E. Clyburn will give remarks and sign copies of his new memoir at the book’s launch event at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the Hollings Library at the University of South Carolina. 

Clyburn’s narrative, “Blessed Experiences: Genuinely Southern, Proudly Black,” is published by USC Press amd recounts his humble beginnings in rural South Carolina and his early involvement in civil rights and public service. The event, sponsored by USC Press and USC Libraries, will celebrate the book’s recent release and is open to the public. Books will be available for purchase
