CMA increases admission, extends hours

Beginning Sunday, July 19, the Columbia Museum of Art will sport new admission prices and hours.
In an effort to maintain a quality experience for visitors, the museum will raise the admission price for the first time since 2001. New admission will be $10 for adults, $5 for students, $8 for military and senior citizens 65 years of age and older, and free for museum members and children 5 and younger. Admission will be free every Sunday, courtesy of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, beginning Sunday, July 5.
Extended hours will also be instituted to accommodate weekend schedules of families. Extended Friday hours have been changed to the first Friday of every month and will have a greater emphasis on dynamic programming on these evenings. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month (until 5 p.m. in December) and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays, Tuesdays and major holidays. The museum shop is open during museum hours and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays.
The Columbia Museum of Art is South Carolina's premier international art museum and houses a world-class collection of European and American art, including masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo from the Samuel H. Kress Collection, porcelain and works by significant furniture and silver makers, as well as American, Asian, and modern and contemporary art.
