Army band plans show in Newberry
Thursday, July 02, 2009NEWBERRY -- The caissons come rolling into the Newberry Opera House at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11.
The 208th Army Reserve Band, stationed out of Concord, N.C., and committed to providing espirit de corps for our fighting forces, serves as a goodwill ambassador throughout North and South Carolina. It is under the direction of Timothy Lyden, who currently lives in Chapin and is principal of Prosperity-Rikard Elementary School.
Lyden entered active duty in 2985 and has been assigned to such posts as the Eighth United States Army Band in Seoul, South Korea, and the 282nd Army Band out of Fort Jackson. He is an accomplished trumpet player.
The 208th Army Reserve Band will honor America's history with a program of marches, popular music, show tunes and jazz. The concert is free and open to the public, but reserved seating is recommended.
