Orangeburg Post 4 defeats Lexington in shootout

LEXINGTON -- The Orangeburg Post 4 American Legion baseball team defeated Lexington 28-18 in nine innings Monday night.

Tyler Metts had an inside the park grandslam and six RBIs for Post 4; Trez Wienges was 5-for-7 with six RBIs and Matt Arant had four RBIs.

Post 4 (9-4 in League VIII play) hosts Chapin-Irmo Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Mirmow Field.

 

Super Girls Camp/Survivor Orangeburg

Join JoAnna Ward at the Super Girls Camp July 16-18 at the City Gym in Orangeburg. Girls ages 5-18 can register for the three-day clinic at the Parks and Recreation Department, 367 Green St., through July 10.

The clinic will focus on the fitness drills and life skills. Lead by JoAnna Ward of CBS “Survivor the Amazon,” the camp promises good times for all who attend. Ward is a former Lady Bulldog basketball player winning two MEAC titles.

She earned her master’s degree in education before becoming a certified personal trainer, life coach, and group exercise instructor. The camp is sponsored by the city of Orangeburg Parks and Recreation Department.

Dantzler finishes in tie for 46th

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Former University of Georgia golfer David Miller of Daphne, Ala., finished in dramatic fashion, holing out a wedge on his 72nd hole to grab his first career NGA Hooters Tour victory at the Bentonville Open.

Miller carded rounds of 62-70-68-64 to post a 20-under par 264 total, giving the former Bulldog a three-stroke victory over Jeff Corr (Longwood, Fla.), Nick Beach (Fayetteville, Ark.) and third round leader Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas) each finishing at 19-under 265.

Orangeburg’s Marion Dantzler finished tied for 46th after rounds of 68, 69, 69, 75, 3 under par.
