SANTEE -- Two Lake Marion High School graduates are the recipients of scholarships donated by the Rotary Club of Lake Marion at Santee.

Arthea D. Simmons of Holly Hill and Diarel L. Riley of Elloree received the scholarships on June 11 prior to tee off of the club's annual golf tournament fund-raiser at the Lake Marion Golf Course in Santee.

Dr. David Longshore Jr., a Rotarian and Orangeburg Consolidated School District 3 superintendent, said the local Rotary club has donated scholarships to area students for more than 15 years.

Rotary Club President Chuck Abbott presented the scholarship checks, totaling $500 each, to Simmons and Riley.

Simmons plans to attend Claflin University in Orangeburg, and Riley plans to attend Benedict College in Columbia.
