Kershaw County school closed after fire
By The Associated PressTuesday, September 02, 2008LUGOFF, S.C. - Classes at a Kershaw County high school have been canceled as authorities investigate a fire that destroyed two rooms there.
Superintendent Frank Morgan says several coaches were in another part of Lugoff-Elgin High School when they heard a fire alarm go off at around 5 p.m. Monday.
No injuries were reported, but officials say a storage room and classroom were destroyed.
Classes have been canceled for Tuesday, but officials say the school’s 1,500 students are expected to be back in class on Wednesday.
Officials are testing air quality and fixing areas damaged by the fire.
