Albemarle to increase ibuprofen prices
Saturday, August 30, 2008BATON ROUGE, La. - Specialty chemicals maker Albemarle Corp, a leading global manufacturer of the anti-inflammatory agent ibuprofen, will increase the prices for its ibuprofen products $4.50 /kg worldwide, effective Oct. 1 or as contracts allow.
The price increase applies to Albemarle 40 and Albemarle 70 ibuprofen grades (40- and 70-micron particle-size bulk products, respectively), as well as ALBE-TAB ibuprofen products, which are direct compressible formulations optimized for tablet production.
“The global economy continues to drive both challenges and opportunities for Albemarle and our customers,” said David Kuzy, business director of Albemarle’s pharmaceutical actives group.
“While raw materials have increased at an unprecedented rate over the past year, we have continued to invest in our business to ensure Albemarle meets the growing demands of our customers. This price increase will ensure we maintain the superior quality and delivery that our customers require and have come to expect from Albemarle.”
