Lashawnda Colter of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, Elizabeth Fogle of Branchville High School and Melvin Felder of Bethune Bowman High School were the 2008 recipients of John W. Matthews Jr. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.

Colter, the daughter of Mrs. Evan Frazier and Willie Colter, will attend Clemson University, where she will study financial management. Fogle, the daughter of Mrs. Sherrie Fogle and Mr. and Mrs. Dwain (Katie) Fogle, will study business at Francis Marion.

Felder, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin (Terry) Felder, will attend Claflin University, where he will major in business administration.
