NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - North Charleston police have arrested a man in the seizure last week of 500 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $2 million.

The Charleston Post and Courier reports 27-year-old Rashad Muhammad of Goose Creek turned himself in Wednesday.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor says Muhammad faces four drug charges, two weapons counts and a charge of failing to stop for a blue light.

He is in jail on $1.2 million bond. A jail officer said he did not know if Muhammad had an attorney.

Police got a tip from federal authorities and on Aug. 20 chased a van with New York license plates from an industrial park near the Charleston International Airport. The chase ended when the van hit a tree and the driver ran away.
