Seniors who show could win new car
By T&D StaffWednesday, August 20, 2008If your child is a high school senior and goes to school every day this year, then he or she could drive away in a brand-new Chevrolet car next summer.
“I think it’s great that corporate America has recognized the fact that attendance is an important factor in student performance. ... The more we build public-private partnerships to encourage academic excellence the more successful our future generations will become,” said State Rep. Jerry Govan, Orangeburg County’s attendance supervisor.
At the end of the 2008-2009 year, principals in Orangeburg and 11 other counties will submit the names of their high school seniors who had perfect attendance for a drawing to win a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt sedan.
Three winners will be chosen in the contest, which is sponsored by Chevrolet and the S.C. Department of Education.
