Gamecocks have 'so-so' Tuesday practice
By University of South Carolina Media RelationsWednesday, August 13, 2008Following a two-hour wet and muggy workout on Tuesday, Steve Spurrier said his Gamecocks only had a so-so practice but got plenty of snaps in.
"A couple of the guys started pushing and jawing so we actually cut it short and ran a little extra tonight," Spurrier said. "Nothing serious. We’ll let most of the young guys play again (in Wednesday’s scrimmage) – guys that haven’t played much. Chris (Smelley) and Tommy (Beecher) will play.”
Defensive lineman Melvin Ingram switched to number 50 on Tuesday. Ingram wore number 6 last season while playing linebacker and donned the number 32 this fall when he was penciled in at fullback.
Cornerback Mike Newton has switched from number 42 to number 35.
