Young S. Carolina QBs hope to match expectations
By The Associated PressFriday, July 18, 2008COLUMBIA, S.C. - Freshman quarterback Aramis Hillary is pleased with the early praise from South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier. But Hillary points out he’s got a long way to go to live up to it.
Hillary was among several young Gamecocks who read elementary and preschool children Friday during an outing at the Richland County Public Library’s main branch. Also there was fellow first-year quarterback Reid McCollum.
Hillary is unsure about his role this fall. Spurrier says he would like to see him redshirt this fall. But if you listen to the Gamecocks coach, there may be no other quarterback on the program he’s more excited about.
Spurrier says Hillary can make all the throws and is mobile enough to escape defenders.
