Littering fosters wild cats
Friday, July 18, 2008Fact: There are no such things as feral cat communities! Since when does a feral cat have its own community? You call dumpsters in back of grocery stores, private property, parking lots and private resident yards where they attack people and pets “Cat Communities?”
The definition of a feral animal is an animal reverted to a wild state and one that is a threat to humans or wildlife. “Look it up”! The litter you drop all over town in private parking lots such as Kmart, Wal-Mart and convenience stores is just that, litter. Littering is against the law. You are subjecting cats and small animals that eat the food you put out to being torn apart or killed by other predators that come to eat the food — foxes, raccoons, snakes, rats, possums and others.
So where are your wild feral communities? All we see are cats on private property, private lots or by dumpsters! Neutering a wild cat and putting it back on the street is cruelty to animals. The animal will still be wild and go after things it should not. You need to visit the emergency room and see people who have been bitten or worse on their own property by these untamed creatures. Visit a vet’s office and see pets that have been attacked in their own yard by feral cats and dogs.
Littering has fines up to $1,000 and you will be caught. This situation has the attention of litter control now. You can make up all the excuses you want, but you are breaking the law.
