Claflin to receive AmeriCorps grant

Claflin University will receive a grant to place 60 AmeriCorps members in local schools.

Claflin will receive $189,000 through the United Way for the members to provide tutoring in Orangeburg County’s three school districts and the Calhoun County school district.

The United Way Association of South Carolina announced Monday more than $1,150,000 in grants for AmeriCorps programs throughout South Carolina.
