Bamberg School District 1 to hold special called meeting Monday

The Bamberg School District 1 Board of Trustees will hold a special called meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 9, in the Media Center at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School in Bamberg.

An attorney for Bamberg School District 1 incorrectly indicated the meeting would be held Tuesday, June 10, in an article published in Wednesday’s edition.

The purpose of Monday’s special called meeting will be for the trustees to vote on closing Ehrhardt Elementary School and to consider first reading of the district’s fiscal year 2008-2009 budget.

Trustees on Monday will once again take a vote on closing Ehrhardt Elementary at the end of this school year after initially voting to do so at a meeting back in April.

A group of Ehrhardt residents and officials and Ehrhardt Elementary School PTO members filed a complaint against Bamberg School District 1 this past Monday, alleging the district violated the Freedom of Information Act by failing to provide adequate public notice that closure of the school was to be considered at that April meeting.
