COLUMBIA – University of South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley announced today that Becky Burke has requested and been granted a release from her National Letter of Intent.

Burke was part of the five-player class that signed with the Gamecocks in the fall’s early signing period. Averaging 25.7 points per game, she was the 2007-08 Associated Press Pennsylvania Class AAA Player of the Year and an honorable mention WBCA High School All-American.

With Burke’s departure, Staley has four scholarships available for the 2008-09 season.
