Deadline is May 29, Tri-County Chamber’s Santee Amateur golf tournament scheduled for June 7-8 at Santee Resort Golf Course The 12th annual Santee Amateur Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, 2008, at Santee Resort Golf Course in Santee, according to Tournament Chairman Robby Robbins. A slate of talented amateur golfers from across South Carolina will be convening on the course to vie for the coveted title, which was won last year by talented young golfer Austin Cody. Donald Hardy won the Senior Championship (55-years-old and up), Robbins said. "The tournament committee is very excited about this year’s event as our field continues to get stronger each year," Robbins said. "USGA rules will govern the 36-hole stroke play. The $150 entry fee includes green fee, cart, range balls and tee favors. Also, each player and the player’s spouse or guest may attend a Saturday Santee Am Banquet at the Santee Resort Clubhouse. And, during the awards ceremony on Sunday, SCE&G sponsors a great barbecue dinner for our golfers." Anyone who would like to participate should call the Chamber’s St. George office at 1-800-788-5646 or 843-563-9091, or the Chamber’s Holly Hill office at 1-888-568-5646 or 803-496-3831. The registration deadline is Monday, June 2. Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Teresa Hatchell noted, "Businesses and individuals may have a custom-designed hole sponsor sign on the course throughout the weekend for a fee of $100. All hole sponsors’ names will appear in all tournament literature, as well. Too, we are accepting logo items from businesses that want us to place their pens, cups, koozies, letter openers, magnets, etc., into the golfers’ goody bags (150 bags). "The more participation from the great businesses in our area, the more we are able to promote our Tri-County area," Hatchell said. "Be sure to contact the Chamber right away if you want to advertise through our golf tournament and if you want to golf with us that weekend. You don’t have to be a Chamber member to participate in this colossal tournament."
