CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson coach Jack Leggett says a weight has been lifted from his team’s shoulders after the Tigers qualified for the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Leggett hopes his young team can continue its late-season run and lock up a spot in the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Clemson is 30-25-1. The Tigers had to wait for a Virginia Tech victory over Duke on Friday before they could be guaranteed to play in the ACC tournament in Jacksonville, Fla.

Leggett says his players did a good job blocking out the uncertainty of their team’s fate and concentrating on baseball. The Tigers closed the regular season with five straight wins.

Clemson opens ACC tournament play Wednesday against top-seeded Miami.
