Gamecocks open SEC tourney with No. 2 LSU

COLUMBIA — South Carolina will take on No. 2 seed LSU when the Gamecocks open play in the double-elimination Southeastern Conference baseball tournament next week.

South Carolina finished 37-19 overall and 15-15 in the SEC. The Gamecocks clinched a spot in the postseason when they won two of three against Tennessee in the final weekend series of the regular season.

Georgia has the top seed in the SEC tournament at Regions Park in Hoover, Alabama. Florida is No. 3, Kentucky No. 4 and Alabama No. 5. Defending SEC champion Vanderbilt is seeded sixth, the Gamecocks are seventh and Ole Miss is No. 8.

The Gamecocks will play in Game 1 at 9 a.m., EST, Wednesday.
