An Orangeburg man was arrested Saturday on domestic violence charges after his wife said he assaulted her over a golf game, according to an OCSO incident report.

A woman called deputies around 11 p.m. Saturday after an altercation with her husband. The woman said she was asleep when the man, 34, came in the home yelling at her. She said he got directly in her face and she could tell he was intoxicated.

She said he was yelling at her because she did not go golfing with him that day. The woman said she had to keep the children.

The woman said she tried pushing the man away from her. When she did, he grabbed her by the throat, she said.

When deputies arrived, they found the man on a porch. He admitted the situation was his fault, according to the report. He was charged with criminal domestic violence.

In an unrelated report, a Rock Hill man reported on Friday two ATVs were stolen from his Bowman property.

The man said that during a check of his Bowman property off Pond Road, he discovered someone had taken a Yamaha Grizzly 660 and a Polaris 200. The vehicles were valued at $4,000.

A 21-year-old Charleston man went to jail Saturday after a traffic stop, according to an ODPS incident report.

Around 12:49 a.m., police said they clocked a vehicle traveling at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. When stopped, the driver admitted he did not have a driver’s license, the report said. Instead, he gave a military ID card.

Officers ran the man’s ID, which came back to a license suspended previously, the report said.

Edwardo Lucas Jr. was charged with third-offense driving under suspension and speeding.

In an unrelated report, a St. Matthews Road eatery employee notified police after a failed attempt to burglarize the restaurant.

The All-Star Deli employee said a concrete bench was found in front of the store’s window. It appeared someone had attempted to gain entry to the business by smashing the window.

No entry was made because the glass was tempered. There was damage, however, estimated to be about $500.
