BAMBERG, S.C. - A Faust Street woman called police on May 4, saying she needed assistance at her residence. When police arrived, they were approached by a 57-year-old woman, also a resident of Faust Street, who claimed she had items at the caller’s residence that she wanted to retrieve.

The husband and wife who own the house came out at that time and told officers their side of the story. The wife was visibly distraught, according to the incident report, telling officers that her neighbor had hit her in the chest, causing a bruise. The husband told police that the neighbor owed him $2,500 for work he had done for her but that “she had given them the items she had left at the residence.”

According to the husband’s story, the woman had begun harassing him and his wife so he had told the woman if she wanted to come get her things, she needed to pay him what she owed him. His wife told police the neighbor had tried to walk into their house that afternoon and when she tried to stop her, the woman allegedly hit her in the chest.

The neighbor alleged that she had only let the couple borrow her items and that she did not owe them any money. She also claimed that she had not hit the wife.

Police advised all three parties involved to see the magistrate in reference to the items and money since the situation was a civil matter. The couple was advised to see the judge to sign a warrant for assault and battery.

A trespass notice was placed on the neighbor for the couple’s address. The woman told police she had approximately $1,700 worth of merchandise in the couple’s home
