
T&D Region counties saw April unemployment rates remain relatively unchanged from the previous month, according to figures released by the S.C. Employment Security Commission on Friday.
Orangeburg County’s unemployment rate for April was 7.9 percent, the same as in March. The county had the 15th highest unemployment rate among the state’s 46 counties.
Calhoun County’s unemployment rate for April was 5.3 percent, the same as March. The county ranked 32nd in the state.
Bamberg County’s rate was 9.4 percent, up from 9.2 percent in March. The county ranked eighth in the state.
Rates for most T&D Region counties remained above the state average, which was 5.9 percent.
In The T&D Region:
* Allendale County has the state’s highest jobless rate at 13.5 percent, up from March’s 13.1 percent.
* Barnwell ranked 12th at 9 percent, the same as in March.
* Dorchester (41st) and Lexington (tied for 44th) continue to have jobless rates well under the state average, at 4.5 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively. The March rates were the same.
